Originally founded at USC and part of the National Emergency Medicine Club Association (EMCA), our club at UCLA exists to invigorate interest in the field of emergency medicine—shaping and refining the skills, knowledge, and impact of those dedicated to advancing the field. We began as a group of EMTs who saw barriers to outreach, research, and education, and we created this club to break through those limitations. By providing opportunities to engage with real-world challenges, collaborate on research, and lead community outreach initiatives, we are transforming the way emergency medicine is experienced and practiced.
We have collaborated with Falck to provide ambulance tours, distributed Narcan to spread overdose awareness to students, and tabled at health fairs to demonstrate Stop the Bleed techniques such as tourniquet application and wound packing. By training our members on various emergency life-saving measures, we aim to expand the scope of emergency medicine education beyond the classroom and empower students to respond confidently when it matters most. Our goal is not only to spark interest in emergency medicine, but to equip our members with the skills, experience, and sense of responsibility needed to make a tangible difference in their communities.
